Blooming by the Bay is my own personal family blog, where my husband and I document our family’s everyday and adventures to share with our family and friends. It was originally launched in July 2009, but was redesigned in late 2011. I created a child theme customization of the WordPress theme Elemin by Themify. It was my first time building a responsive layout using fluid grids, flexible images, and media queries, and was an invaluable learning experience. At completion, I turned the original simple black and white theme into a lush, whimsical design that reflected my personal style and aesthetic.
The icing on the cake was when Nick La of Web Designer Wall noticed the design and sang its praises on Twitter! It was sweet validation as a designer and developer from one of the industry’s best.
