TL;DR: I’m a visual designer & front-end web developer living in Northern Virginia. I am a rockstar designer and code ninja rolled into one, and I live for beautiful typography and clean, semantic markup. Some call me a unicorn, but what I truly aspire to be is a Pegasus, elevating experiences to soaring heights.
As a nerdy teenager growing up in the ‘90s, I was introduced to the wonder of the Internet and found myself fascinated at how information was transmitted and presented on the web. I stayed up late nights studying the code behind various websites and eventually built my first personal webpage (Geocities, anyone?) with self-taught HTML – without the aid of a WYSIWYG editor, it took me days to construct a simple page, but I believe that this approach nurtured a solid foundation of knowledge of how code works. Nearly two decades have passed since those novice days of coding. My design work has grown more detailed and refined, my markup cleaner and more accessible. Gone are the days when I built with tables and frames; I now work with HTML5, CSS3, and responsive layouts. While design is where my passion lies, I love how coding allows me to tap into and exercise the other side of my brain — I enjoy the balance of possessing a trained creative eye and the technical chops to match. Nothing is more exciting to me than taking ownership of the entire building process from concept to launch, making a design vision come to life as a fully functional, memorable experience.
